Please join us for food and drinks at the beautiful Chester County Art Association as we kick off Josh Maxwell's campaign for County Commissioner.
Meet Josh and learn about the campaign
It has been an extraordinary two years in Chester County.
I saw citizens research, advocate for, and demand accountability from candidates. I saw hundreds of neighbors gather together, no matter the cold or rain or heat, to protest gun violence, environmental destruction, and the erosion of women’s rights. I saw seniors dutifully vote as they have for years and I saw eighteen-year-olds cast their first ballot. I saw parents hold their children’s hands as they went into the polls, teaching them what it means to be part of our community.
I don’t know about you, but I think this deserves some celebration.
I invite you to join me for a campaign kickoff party on Friday, February 8 at the Chester County Art Association for food, drinks, and conversation about the exciting future of Democratic politics in Chester County.
With special guest Mayor Svante Myrick of Ithaca, NY
Svante Myrick is the youngest-ever mayor of Ithaca, New York and the director of People For the American Way Foundation’s youth leadership programs. He now oversees the YEO Network, which consists of 1,000+ progressives elected officials under the age of 35+ at the local, state, and national level.
Raised by his mother, Myrick and his family faced homelessness throughout their lives and relied on school lunch programs and other critical public services. As mayor, Myrick’s innovative leadership has, for example, included putting forth a plan to address the heroin epidemic through supervised injection sites, prevention, treatment, and law enforcement.
Myrick has been interviewed by local and national TV, radio, and print outlets including CNN, USA Today, and the New York Times on issues such as progressive leadership, racial justice, and millennial civic engagement.
